I can tell you that everyone I heard talking about this game at E3 seemed to be greatly underwhelmed by it. I wouldn't know, since I didn't play it, and I've never really been into MKs whole 'dial-a-combo' combat, but I can say that it does seem nice that MK is finally moving back to 2D combat, where it belongs.

I'm really liking this whole push towards more basic, old school gaming. It's really nice that so many developers are getting back in touch with their roots, I just wish that more publishers would give their dev houses the freedom to do it with greater liberty and ease.
It looks cool, I'm curious to try it out.
